by Vern on Nov.17, 2009, under Astronomy, Planetary

I made another attempt at imaging Mars. Below image from this morning around 5:30 am. Unfortunately, about the only feature visible is the north polar cap. Mars is 8.9 arc sec across. Mars central meridian at 172 deg.

Nice and clear, no wind, transparency very good, turbulence around 5/10, temp 27 deg F. Equipment used: Celstron Nexstar 11, Televue 2.5X Powermate, DMK 21AU04.AS camera and LRGB filters, 40 sec video at 60 fps at 1/60 sec exposure for each channel.
